Jonny Rumble - JR

GENRE: Rock, Indie, Alternative

Label: Rock Proper
Release date: 2010
Total running time: 00:30:52

Jonny Rumble knows about hurricanes: During 2003-2004, the members of Jonny Rumble lived in Cocoa, Florida. In the summer of 2004, their area was hit by three hurricanes in 40 days; Charley, Ivan, and Jeanne. The last hurricane in the series, Jeanne, put a tree through Brian’s roof and completely destroyed the home of Patrick, Seth, and Jeremy. They moved to Chicago a few weeks later.
Jonny Rumble knows justice: Patrick spent three days in Cook County Jail when he was mistakenly picked up after a show in Logan Square for an erroneous bench warrant. Brian had to spend the night in the Kalamazoo city jail for a college house party that simply grew out of control.
Jonny Rumble knows grand theft: Seth’s Dodge Caravan, better known as “Cara” or “Dennis Rod-Van,” was stolen from Chicago’s Wrigleyville neighborhood on MLK Day, 2010. The Chicago Heights Police Department recovered the van a week later with a broken steering column, missing radio and a layer of graffiti covering the interior.
In an unrelated incident in Daytona, a fan was held at gunpoint after a show; the assailant took the fan’s blowhorn.
Jonny Rumble knows dentistry: In the band’s first few months together, Jeremy lost several teeth and cut his lips in a terrific frisbee related face-plant. He had trouble singing for weeks because of the stitches in his mouth and lips. During a show in Chicago, Seth lost a tooth when he broke a drumstick hitting a symbol. A piece of the stick hit him in the mouth and knocked one of his front teeth out.
Jonny Rumble knows Credence Clearwater Revival: During a rowdy camping trip, Patrick had to be hopitallized for several days after he walked over hot coals to prove his love for Credence Clearwater Revival. He played a show in Miami the day of his release with bloody bandages wrapped around his right foot. To help soothe the pain the bar played CCR all night in between bands.

Plastic People – Pink Narcisius

GENRE: Rock, Alternative, New Wave, Dark Ambient, Gothic

Label: AF Music
Release date: 2011
Total running time: 00:43:41

The new raucous indie rock album from I Am The Devil.
After releasing the demo “Good As You” last year, which was quite electro-rock oriented, Sébastien Ficagna aka Plastic People decided to return to his acoustic roots on his new album “Pink Narcisius”. Accordion and folk guitars mash up with an electronic backbone and create a fascinating psychedelic post-punk cabaret.
“Pink Narcisius” is an album containing great songs, which are performed with melancholic vitality. Cold Wave, Rock and Folk mix to a winking journey into the mind of an intelligent songwriter, who embed with those cover versions of “In Heaven” from David Lynch’s cult film” Eraserhead” and Tuxedomoon’s “In A Manner Of Speaking” two idiosyncratic interpretations to his complete works.

The new raucous indie rock album from I Am The Devil.
A great collection of songs. Sometimes angry, sometimes bluesy and laidback - always heartfelt. This album is a little rough around the edges but that just adds to its charm.

The Silence Industry – Permanent Crisis

GENRE: Rock, Gothic Rock, Alternative, Dark Wave

Label: AF Music
Release date: 2011
Total running time: 00:36:39

“Permanent Crisis” is meanwhile the 6th release of The Silence Industry. The 5-song EP continues, what has begun with the parent “The Teeth of Tomorrow”. Complex guitars in gothic rock robe, combined with elaborate bass riffs offer a thrilling feeling of angst.
As the title “Permanent Crisis” reveals, it is a very pessimistic release. Though the desire and the yearning are present in every moment, as everyone awaits it from The Silence Industry. A more than adequately retrospect of modern Goth-Rock on the ruins of the information era.

pandoras.box - Monomeet

GENRE: Rock, Alternative, Electronic Rock

Label: Clinical Archives
Release date: 2011
Total running time: 00:27:49

Just at the beginning of 2011, pandoras.box seem define the state of the art of modern Rock Music. A Soundtrack about a time full of global change, desperation, nervousness, youth and dead future. What the Southern Germany based quintet has on offer on their second album is pop and zeitgeist. But rather of the dark, gloomy, demanding and sophisticated kind. Terms like Spacerock, Shoegazer or Neo Classic spring to mind. Sophisticated arrangements of orchestral strings and subtle piano melodies meet the cold light of flickering laptop screens. PANDORAS.BOX take their time to create moods and sounds but they don’t forget the rhythmic foundations that endow the majestic compositions with a certain lightness.
The quintet fuses common pop instruments with string sections, piano, sampling or eclectic electronica. An associated product designer developed the album design. PANORAS.BOX follow their own vision and a concept that involves a tight, intimate network and the people around them. At the same time they need their dose of sealed off cocooning in their own universe. MONOMEET! No wonder the songs were written in an air raid shelter. The free download album “Barriers” already caused quite a stir with some ten thousand (!) hits and downloads and from early on gave a hint at what to expect from this musical journey. What follows now is the second step.
MONOMEET is about art, about music – music you have to make, music that defines our little weary heads. It´s about searching for alternatives and meeting yourself in truth. This is an album, a documentation of a time of changes – a story. A very personal one. With “Monomeet” the band has created an impressive, mysterious and intimate work that offers enough depth for a prolonged occupation with the music but MONOMEET also has enough brilliance on the surface to inspire on the first listen.

The Nightchild – Another Shadow

GENRE: Rock, Alternative, Indie, Post Punk, Gothic Rock, Wave

Label: AF Music
Release date: 2011
Total running time: 01:02:13

After the first, self-released album of The Nightchild - a two-headed band from Donetsk (Ukraine) - named "The Other" (2009), which was a big success, now the second album "Another Shadow" (2010) will be re-released as a special and analogue remastered version on afmusic.
The band's roots in the dark times of the 80's Gothic Rock-movement and they clearly maintain its gritty sound without letting the listeners miss neither musically innovations nor an extraordinary sound. The mostly emotional vocals, the well-aimed use of guitar and keyboard and the driving bass guitar comp all the pieces - from faster ones over catchy mid-tempo-songs up to emotive ballads.
This re-release has completely been re-recorded and extended with three bonus tracks from the EP "With Me" (2010). Actually it comes up with guest appearences of three singers: Dimitry Flo (DoppelgängeR) in "Insects In The Amber", Alien Moongazer (Spectral Blight) in "The Nameless Ghost" and Marie Himmelsweit (Puppet Lane) in "With Me", whose voices perfectly entwines with THE NIGHTCHILD’s music.
With "Another Shadow", THE NIGHTCHILD presents an album, which definitely can compete with the classics of gothic rock and offers a pretty gloomy atmosphere associated with intoxicating, emotional melodies, which simply carry along.

Loss of a Child - The Future Symphony

Loss of a Child

GENRE: Rock, Post-Rock, Instrumental, Alternative

Label: Lost Children
Release date: 2003
Total running time: 0:54:21

Loss of a Child use pianos, string sections, guitars and drums to create a classically-influenced post-rock noise. With elements boarding on quiet ambience and others with distorted guitars and crashing drums, the ambitious nature with the classical instruments sets Loss of a Child apart from many leftfield acts, producing a hugely epic sound. The Future Symphony lays “its foundations in more classical notions and scratching the surface with a rough ambient texture. The end result of all this noise is a challenging and thought-provoking dose of coma inducing psycho-therapy. The Future Symphony doesn’t warp the mind like many experimental outfits try to do; but instead they seek to suspend the illusion of reality for a brief moment and embark on a multi-tiered journey through the deepest human memories. It’s not all happy experiences and sunshine, for darker moments litter the way, but it’s a spectacular ride through and through, and one that has unforeseen importance in the modern world of music.” Jordan Volz

Shearer – Monument

SHEARER

GENRE: Rock, Alternative, Punk

Label: AFMusic
Release date: 2010
Total running time: 0:41:20
Powerful alternative rock with a generous helping of punk. Aggressive, emotional, uncompromising, but then again anthem-like, with a fine sense for melodies and catchy hooklines. Honest energetic rock instead of monotonous charts music.
SHEARER are a fresh breeze sweeping through the music business straight from Berlin, Germany.
But most of all SHEARER are authentic, rebellious and free! Free for everyone! They are a statement against the music industry’s conventions and shallowness: Independent Rock 2.0 instead of Digital Rights Management 2.0. They don’t deliver lawsuits free to the door but free music. SHEARER stand for everyone’s right to enjoy and particapte in music.
The reason behind this is obvious. SHEARER are into making music because they thoroughly enjoy music themselves. That doesn’t only reflect in how they deal with their fans – you can hear it, you can feel it. Where everyone is moaning and groaning – SHEARER are rocking. SHEARER are the the chili in the stale soup of everyday musical monotony. SHEARER are spicy and loud. SHEARER belong on this planet’s stages and into your speakers!
