GENRE: Rock, Indie, Post-rock, Slowcore

Label: 23 Seconds
Release date: 2012
Total running time: 00:60:00

Often described as "Sweden´s slowest band", this time Reverend Big O from Malmö explore the album formula rather than the pace. The album is put together as one long single breath and the idea that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. The music is rooted in 90´s shoegaze sounds like Slowdive, My Bloody Valentine etc. as well as post-rockers like Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Explosions In The Sky.
The main contributors on this album are Nicklas Nilsson and Jörgen Dahlqvist. Nicklas is also a member of The Bell, a band with several releases in Europe and the U.S. Their music have attracted considerable attention and several of their songs have been heard in American TV-series like The Vampire Diaries, Jersey Shore etc. Jörgen Dahlqvist is artistic director for one of Sweden´s leading performing arts collective Teater Weimar, Dean of the theatre academy in Malmö 2009-2012. He was also co-founder of the legendary Swedish record label A West Side Fabrication in the late 80´s.

Bosques de mi Mente - Colores

GENRE: Rock, Indie, Acoustic, Electronic

Label: Clinical Archives
Release date: 2011
Total running time: 00:39:59

Colores is the result of a process of experimentation that started after the release of “Inocencia” back in 2009. I decided then to experiment with toy instruments and keyboards, many of them bent or modified to alter their sound or to generate noise. I decided also to explore the posibilities of the voice and vocal harmonies, wordless sounds and chants used as another instrument, not to transmit a message. “Colores” is nothing but a simple album half-way between indie and electronic, easy listening and experimental music, past and future. The graphic design is the work of Juls Gars Menta, who added the collage of paintings and figures to the wonderful photographs of Antonio R. I am in debt with both for their collaboration in the project, and for making “Colores” a reality.

These Animals - These Animals

GENRE: Rock, Indie, Shoegaze

Label: Ah Records
Release date: 2011
Total running time: 00:25:12

These Animals are four wild and charming creatures from the urban jungle in the great city of New York. Their music is just as diverse as the jungle itself. Imagine dreamy guitar soundscapes crossed with a motown dancy rythm section. Sounds weird? Well, listen for yourself and discover a mix of dreamy pop and dance-able rock and roll that comes along with sixties-inspired harmonies, floating shoe-gaze guitar textures and toe-tapping rhythms. All sitting very comfortably next to each other.
The boys met while attending art school in New York where they studied studio production for music. Their personal musical journey as a band began with a songwriting project in the early months of 2010. After a few lineup changes, These Animals came to be described as a “supergroup” of bands in their college circuit, hailing Greg Baldwin and Brian Crimmins from Greg Baldwin & The Aesthetics, Jon Rick from Wyldlife, and Will Whatley, from seemingly every band at the college.
Using the elements of pop music to guide their writing process, the four New York boys simultaneously embrace and redefine their genre. In their first self titled EP Greg’s sixties-inspired melodies float over chaotic guitars, syncopated rhythms, visceral textures, and hard-hitting rock.

Jonny Rumble - JR

GENRE: Rock, Indie, Alternative

Label: Rock Proper
Release date: 2010
Total running time: 00:30:52

Jonny Rumble knows about hurricanes: During 2003-2004, the members of Jonny Rumble lived in Cocoa, Florida. In the summer of 2004, their area was hit by three hurricanes in 40 days; Charley, Ivan, and Jeanne. The last hurricane in the series, Jeanne, put a tree through Brian’s roof and completely destroyed the home of Patrick, Seth, and Jeremy. They moved to Chicago a few weeks later.
Jonny Rumble knows justice: Patrick spent three days in Cook County Jail when he was mistakenly picked up after a show in Logan Square for an erroneous bench warrant. Brian had to spend the night in the Kalamazoo city jail for a college house party that simply grew out of control.
Jonny Rumble knows grand theft: Seth’s Dodge Caravan, better known as “Cara” or “Dennis Rod-Van,” was stolen from Chicago’s Wrigleyville neighborhood on MLK Day, 2010. The Chicago Heights Police Department recovered the van a week later with a broken steering column, missing radio and a layer of graffiti covering the interior.
In an unrelated incident in Daytona, a fan was held at gunpoint after a show; the assailant took the fan’s blowhorn.
Jonny Rumble knows dentistry: In the band’s first few months together, Jeremy lost several teeth and cut his lips in a terrific frisbee related face-plant. He had trouble singing for weeks because of the stitches in his mouth and lips. During a show in Chicago, Seth lost a tooth when he broke a drumstick hitting a symbol. A piece of the stick hit him in the mouth and knocked one of his front teeth out.
Jonny Rumble knows Credence Clearwater Revival: During a rowdy camping trip, Patrick had to be hopitallized for several days after he walked over hot coals to prove his love for Credence Clearwater Revival. He played a show in Miami the day of his release with bloody bandages wrapped around his right foot. To help soothe the pain the bar played CCR all night in between bands.

GENRE: Rock, Shoegaze, Indie, Dream Pop

Label: BFW Recordings
Release date: 2011
Total running time: 00:42:25

The newly remastered album 'Sugar' by Alabama shoegazers The Sunshine Factory.
As we said on the original Sugar EP, this is lively and full on - the poppiest of dream pop.
Shoegaze influenced, guitar drenched melodies accented and supported by samples, honey sweet tone driven vocals and old school dance beats.
The album was originally an EP expanded to a full length album after many requests.
The Sunshine Factory is a collaborative effort between a mystery lyricist and composer/performer Ian Taylor. The band hales from the heart of Dixie, where the bluesiest blues were born. The real mystery is not why but how this music came from this place.

Icon Girl Pistols - The Fall of Tokyo

GENRE: Rock, Indie, Punk

Label: Trastienda
Release date: 2011
Total running time: 00:24:38

Icon Girl Pistols is an indie rock folk punk accident that began in Tokyo in 2008, when the notorious crackpot Professor Shinnosuke Shirakura accidently spawned Ken Fukuda in a Petri dish his underground laboratory. Lab technician Takashi Hasegawa and foreign correspondent Christopher D. O’Reilly helped to cover up the scandal by conspiring to release their debut album “New Currency” in November 2009. The results were catastrophic. In 2010 the band wrote and recorded a new song every month for free download from their website, and rumour has it you can still get them even now, as long as Riju isn’t looking.
In January 2011, just before the release of the “Fall of Tokyo” EP, Takashi was stolen from his bed in the middle of the night and has not been seen since.
The band continues as a three-piece, with occasional help from their trumpeting, accordioning and recordering friends, and they are currently working on a new album due for a summer 2011 release.

Release date: 2010
Total running time: 00:53:14

The new raucous indie rock album from I Am The Devil.
A great collection of songs. Sometimes angry, sometimes bluesy and laidback - always heartfelt. This album is a little rough around the edges but that just adds to its charm.

Curious – Arrhythmia

GENRE: Rock, Indie, Dark Wave

Label: AF Music
Release date: 2008
Total running time: 00:46:38

n the summer of 1999 CURIOUS was called into being in Bielefeld. Before they started to write their own songs, in the beginning the band raged themself out on song-material from icons like The Cure, OMD and the Chameleons. After a self-produced EP titled "Falling" (2002) CURIOUS released their debut album "The Intimate Stranger" (Genetic Music), which sparked sumerous fans as well as trade press in Germany. After the CD-release was outsold in 2008 there was a digital re-release on afmusic, that caused a stir cross-border.
On first gigs together with Mark Burgess (Ex-Chameleons) in 2003 and many live performances the band quickly convinced a fast-growing audience of its qualities. At that time CURIOUS considerably improved their style and thereby a distinct image evolved, an image that leaves enough space for innovative and individual elements beside the unmistakeable 80's wave influences.
"Arrhythhmia" was published on Sonorium in November 2008 as the second and for now also last longplayer creation by CURIOUS. At the same time afmusic published the net-single "Days" under a Creative Commons License. Songs like "Days", "To Run With The Hare And Hunt With The Hounds" or "J. Mary (Sweetheart)" put dancefloors in motion just like the song "Thrill B" that was released earlier as a bonus track. "Resurrection", "Dazzled" or "The Way To Nowhere", which are more smooth and atmospherically charged with emotion, invite to relax and ponder at the end of a bus day. "Arrhythmia" was recorded in the Senor Rock Studios (Bünde) and then mixed and mastered in TS-Musix Studio (Zweibrücken).
One year after the band's final gig there will be also a digital re-release of the album under a Creative Commons License as a free download. It will be available on afmusic and miscellaneous download portals on 15th of February 2011.
