Ghostfog – Hear Them Whisper
Label: AF Music
Release date: 2011
Total running time: 00:24:37
Released out of an eternal dream, Ghostfrog, after a successful collaboration with Seetha Rao (Frightnights – Bad Night Stories, 2010), crawls through the the attenuated fields of industrial music on his own. The single “Hear Them Whisper” and the proper video underline the musical growth of the Industrial artist from Essen (Germany), for whom classic conventions and common success-concepts are foreign words, in an impressive way.
For one it will be dystopic noise, for the other a mysterious cry of lust out of a machine in the moment of its awakening. Industrial impressions of the daily grind are bound to an excessive consumption of cold music in this interpretition of an avantgardistic thinking artist. The 5-song single is completed with a really complex animation video, which catches the threatening atmosphere of the title song.

Zreen Toyz - The Timeless Topographer
Label: DNA Production
Release date: 2011
Total running time: 01:04:41
The perception of a space, urban or natural, is a sensory process which differs from a person to the other one.
Through his equipment, a topographer have mainly a geometrical and visual perception, while a walker, or a traveller, use his hearing and olfactive perceptions besides his vision, an approach at once instinctive and poetic.
But we could imagine a topographer dreamer and poet whose sensory processes harmonize to form an imaginary and timeless landscape…
This is the idea of this album which invites us in an imaginary and timeless world, outside our usual perceptions.

monolyth and cobalt - La température du feuillage entre deux saisons
Label: Feedbackloop
Release date: 2011
Total running time: 00:33:01
In this gorgeous ep La température du feuillage entre deux saisons the listener takes a trip through desolate landscapes, but always with insights on the beauty that lies within. Much like a flower blossoming amidst the burnt soil. These are probably not familiar grounds, but they are captivating due to their intrinsic beauty. Noise, feedback, strings, piano, drones, field recordings, silence all working to deliver a deep emotional experience. Another key highlight of the ep its the sonic diversity presented, from almost noise dark ambient into Durutti Column filigrees, and weeping strings, everything can happen, but an astonishing coherence is delivered. Breathe deeply and listen carefully for this is a great piece of music. - Leonardo Rosado

Magnetic Wind - La Petite Morte
Label: Rain
Release date: 2011
Total running time: 00:53:38
Working in original composition, she is conservatory trained and presently focuses on organic, electronic blends of ambient with abundant layered female vocals and field textures creating lush soundscaping. Magnetic Wind employs synthetic arpeggios, washes and melodies along with pianos, world touches, rich international percussion and soft voice effects to create charming arrangements with a cinematic depth and inviting warmth. Some pieces feature female vocals – whispered phrases, soaring wordless utterances and chants. Whether it is atmospheric or light new age, her music invokes your senses and emotion.
Born amidst a thunderstorm and delivered from her ancestors through the Thunderbird, she derives her performing name from her Mayan birthday. Heavily inspired by the Sufi poet Rumi as well as sound healing, Magnetic Wind engages in a transcendent process in creating her art and music where she becomes a conduit of spirit, vibration and sounds being performed intuitively.

[angstrom:institute] - The Return of SuperViolence
Label: Silent Flow
Release date: 2011
Total running time: 01:11:22
The song – “Go” – got inspired by the cult movie “Blade Runner” and the question: “what makes us human and where are the boundaries to Artificial Intelligence?”.
“Love Me like a Machine” is a hommage to the new series of “Battlestar Galactica”, where Humans and highly evolved Machines even loose their sight of difference by falling in love to each other.
The outstanding “Substance-T” is an Epic, inspired by the movie: “A Scanner Darkly”, where nothing seems to be quite for sure until the great plan behind got uncovered at the end.
“Blood and Tears” assembles the atmosphere of: “Dune” – a universe where humans are able to fold spacetime by their drug-altered minds.
The triology of “Assassins” is about the most freightening scenario ever put on screen: “Terminator”, where our so highly blessed technology starts to think by their own and treats humanity as an enemy got to be erased, while the story behind treats with the interacting fabric of time.
“The Sting” is for “The Fifth Element” – where love itself got treated as a weapon.
This project is part of [Esc.]Laboratory / Art Factory Worms and is the 33th release at the 8th Year of the renowned project-studio for Utopic Listening.

Maps and Diagrams - The Giant Woods

GENRE: Electronic, Lo-Fi, Noise![]()
Label: Yuki Yaki
Release date: 2010
Total running time: 0:47:47
"maps and diagrams" is well known in the world of electronic music. He releases on several labels such as Static Caravan, Expanding Records and Smallfish. In addition to that, he collaborated with many other labels, released tracks on compilations and did remixes. Apart from releasing music, he also co-runs Cactus Island Recordings with Steve Broca. It started out as a 4 track EP-isode and has finally grown into a fully-fledged album. Maps And Diagrams' latest strike on classical electronica is also his first release on Yuki Yaki, which marks a little beatless respite after a number of more rhythmic outputs recently. Warmly droning ambient-textures with plenty of endless space echo, like in the good old days, dominate the album. Melancholy, contemplation and calm prevail - nicely wrapped in mysteriously shining soundscapes with a kiss of lo-fi noise. "The Giant Woods" seems to be rather predestined for the dark Winter days to come.

"So that's how we live our lives. No matter how deep and fatal the loss, no matter how important the thing that's stolen from us - that's snatched right out of our hands - even if we are left completely changed people with only the outer layer of skin from before, we continue to play out our lives this way, in silence. We draw ever nearer to our allotted span of time, bidding it farewell as it trails off behind. Repeating, often adroitly, the endless deeds of the everyday. Leaving behind a feeling of immeasurable emptiness." Haruki Murakami
