Medo's Little Trap - Medicine Sound

GENRE: Electronic, Pop, Minimalism, Electroacoustic

Label: La Bel
Release date: 2012
Total running time: 00:17:35

A medicine sound against humanity that screams and shouts.
A small work which is like a whisper, re-discovering the basic things to say.
A delicate work, between electro-pop, acoustic ballads and symphonic bewilderment.
MeDo’s Little Trap is a container, an imaginary collective, whose only composer and permanent member, tries to hide in order to come across only as a pure musical act. The idea of the collective dates back to 2010. The musical production took shape in 2008. Actually the record project involves the publication of a full album, but since self-production requires a very long time, the collective/non-collective decided to release in the meantime a 4 tracks EP: Medicine Sound.

VAD – Zarya

GENRE: Pop, New Age, Chill Out, Downtempo, Folk

Label: Mix Galaxy
Release date: 2011
Total running time: 00:46:39

VAD is Mixgalaxy old-timer, he contributed to numerous compilations of our label and now we proudly present you his solo album. It’s a mix of Russian folk singing with New Age music. Charming scent of traditions combined with rich electronic timbres gives birth to some nostalgic melancholy and rememberance of music one might have heard long long time ago, yet it manages to stay topical and fresh. It doesn’t matter if you were not born in Russia and haven’t absorbed that calm old-fashioned unity with nature that is streaming in the veins of Russian outlying districts – this music is going to share all this with you as a well written book. VAD’s huge composer experience enables him to communicate with the listener on this vivid language freely like he was telling you about his motherland with heart-warming expression, contagious interest and dozens of lively details. You might not want to miss such an involving tale so make sure you give it a listen and share it with your friends.

Monk Turner + Fascinoma - Emergency Songs

GENRE: Rock, Country, Pop, Gospel, Soul, Downtempo

Label: ____________
Release date: 2011
Total running time: 00:35:08

"LA is due for a massive earthquake but no one is ready. Also, the city, ergo, the state is broke, so if The Big One hits—the earthquake scientists are predicting will strike in the uncomfortable window of between now and 30 years—the citizenry will suffer.
Everyone knows it is an imminent possibility, but daily life is difficult to live while anticipating total destruction. Sounds like a sci-fi movie, but in this case, it’s just geography.
In Los Angeles, emergency management organizations and relief agencies are anticipating a crisis on par with Katrina for the City of Angels. The going rule is that individuals and families will need to have supplies for 3 days to 2 weeks, as crisis management teams focus on larger, infrastructural issues.
Enter music. A concept album conceived to awaken the imagination of the locals through song and story…charting the various phases of crisis, from pre-quake boredom, to post-quake freeway BBQ’s. The album starts with an acapella public safety address sung with the help of a backing chorus, The Emergency Choir, that returns throughout the recording to chart the journey." - Monk Turner’s official concept

Guy Honeymoon - Summercramp

GENRE: Pop, Acoustic, Guitar

Label: No Source
Release date: 2011
Total running time: 00:25:15

Guy Honeymoon of Sheffield UK brings us nine songs of life, love, and getting through the day. Guy sticks to the basics with stripped down guy-and-guitar pop songs. The bells and whistles would just get in the way. The lyrics and vocal melody is the meat of Guy's work and the element that will immediately draw you into his music. This is the voice of a traveler, and a sincere one at that. Amelia, Hollow Hearts and Pocketknife were recorded with Andy Miller (Mogwai, Arab Strap, Scout Niblet) at Chem 19 in Hamilton, Scotland and the rest were recorded with Brian Waller in Cellardoor recording in Rotherham, England.

For his second album, “N”, moji moji travels to the argentinean northwest and draws inspiration from the immensity of its breathtaking landscapes. The result are 5 beautiful pieces between postrock, shoegaze, pop and ambient. Moon & Sun – The Wild Things

Moon & Sun

GENRE: Pop, Rock, Indie, VocalIt worth a try!

Label: Beep! Beep! Back up the truck
Release date: 2010
Total running time: 0:18:03

Moon & Sun is the work of Swedish songwriter and visual artist Monica Tormell. Influenced by lonesome, gloomy atmospheres and Caribbean tunes her music sets out to explore sonic constellations from the primitive to the electronic and manipulated. ‘The Wild Things’ was written and recorded in Curacao, in the woods of Sweden and in Amsterdam. Every location has had it’s own impact and demanded a distinct presence on the record. It’s a journey through landscapes, changing from beautiful picture views into ghostly midnight lands, a place where reality, imagination and time blur together. Moon & Sun is the observer traveling from palm trees to pine trees trying to translate it both musically and lyrically, using instruments like the tambu drum, steeldrums, clavé sticks and the Swedish zither.

Liam Stewart - Sixteen Words

Liam Stewart

GENRE: Pop, Rock, Electronic, Synth-Pop, IndieIt worth a try!

Label: BlocSonic
Release date: 2010
Total running time: 0:43:48

Liam Stewart is another in an amazing roster of artists that are showing listeners that the world of netaudio is not something to ignore. With his incredible “Sixteen Words”, you’re presented another album that will make some wonder how on Earth is it that it wasn’t released by a traditional label. That’s the state of the music industry… labels are only releasing "marketable" products that they can shove into a pre-packaged formulaic box. If artists want to create ART and speak THEIR voice, then there’s no room for them. So artists are forced (I feel, for the better of music and artistry in general) to forge their own paths. Liam’s path has led him to blocSonic and I am grateful for the opportunity. Liam’s sound is one that is pop of a British flavor… you may call it Britpop or leftfield pop or some other quick and neat genre label, but the reality of it is more complex than that. “Sixteen Words” contains many characteristics… pop, rock, electronic & synth-pop. At times it may remind you of Pink Floyd or Roger Waters, Tears For Fears or some current indie-artist that you may dig. Whatever it sounds like to you, what I’m quite sure you’ll find is that this is memorable music that’s going to stick with you for years to come. It isn’t plastic music made for the masses, it’s contemplative music crafted for music lovers who crave albums that aren’t trying to fit in.
