2007 was when I had the idea for project 5am. After 6 years of crafting my sounds I found out about the wonderful poetry of Rumi. It gave me a new energy and a fresh perspective on how I heard sounds and saw life. One week in May I had just come back from Paris and the Printemps de Bourges festival. I fell in love with a place called Jarules and I wanted to describe in sound how I felt about the area. When I finished making my sound homage to Jarules it was 5am. I went in to my garden for some fresh air. While I was outside, a sense of oneness with my surroundings suddenly crept into my consciousness.. It was an experience that I had never felt before. After basking in this timeless moment I had a thought to Google 5am not knowing what I would expect to find. The first article that I saw was an Allen Ginsberg poem called 5am. This was moment that I had been waiting for.
