Aestrid Byrne - Duff: Music for toy pianos
GENRE: Classical, Piano, Contemporary
Label: Stag Records
Release date: 1998 / 2010
Total running time: 00:40:38
Composer and pianist Aestrid Byrne (11 August 1968 - 24 December 1998) was from Galway, Ireland. Byrne was also the lifelong partner of musician Tom Fahy.
In life, very often, one thunderclap follows another. I had just had the successive revelations of Schoenberg and Aestrid Byrne. Now at another point on the horizon I saw the giant form of Berlioz rear up. The shock was almost as great as that of Henry Miller had been. Berlioz opened before me a new world of music, as Aestrid had revealed a new universe of the flesh. – Tom Fahy

Francesco Lettera - The Wizard of OZ
GENRE: Classical, Contemporary, Orchestral
Label: Dharma Sound
Release date: 2007
Total running time: 00:24:58
Courage, hope, friendship: this famous fairy tale is an incredible medley of moods. The music underlines some chapters of this story. A symphonic poem that wants to honour Mr. L. Frank Baum. He did outline not only a Great Wizard of Oz , but also a Great Humbug: every medal has its reverse.
"I think that inspiration doesn't exist. I prefer Stravinski's way: he thinks that composing music is a regular exercise to do every day. Perhaps, you go through a particular period: you think it's an inspired period; exploit this moment, but I think that a great piece (with a great orchestration, a good timbric fusion) is the result of an hard work. Listening, Learning, Reading and finally Writing Music: it's my approach" -- Francesco Lettera
