Icon Girl Pistols is an indie rock folk punk accident that began in Tokyo in 2008, when the notorious crackpot Professor Shinnosuke Shirakura accidently spawned Ken Fukuda in a Petri dish his underground laboratory. Lab technician Takashi Hasegawa and foreign correspondent Christopher D. O’Reilly helped to cover up the scandal by conspiring to release their debut album “New Currency” in November 2009. The results were catastrophic. In 2010 the band wrote and recorded a new song every month for free download from their website, and rumour has it you can still get them even now, as long as Riju isn’t looking.
In January 2011, just before the release of the “Fall of Tokyo” EP, Takashi was stolen from his bed in the middle of the night and has not been seen since.
The band continues as a three-piece, with occasional help from their trumpeting, accordioning and recordering friends, and they are currently working on a new album due for a summer 2011 release.
